Women's Memory Campaign 2024
> Theme
This November 2024, Wikiesfera organized a campaign dedicated to the retaliated women of Francoism in honor of their resistance and memory. During this month, which coincides with the anniversary of the death of Francisco Franco, the companions of Wikiesfera created and translated more than 120 Wikipedia articles related to women's memory, and improved dozens in four different languages (Spanish, Galician, Asturian and Catalan), most of them of reprisals of Francoism.
During the campaign, an extensive translation list was proposed with names of dozens of reprisals of Francoism as well as other articles related to the subject, such as works of art, films, concepts or biographies of foreign women who participated in the Spanish Civil War. In addition, it was also proposed the translation of many biographies of Opponents of the Portuguese New State, which for the most part had been created by our comrades in Wiki Editoras LX.
Participated in the campaign 19 people (95% women) who published 108 articles in 3 different languages (Spanish, Catalan and Asturian). To these figures, we have to add the 15 articles published during the Editatone of women, memory and resistance #18N that we celebrate in person in Madrid.
> Wikiproject
In addition, this campaign is part of the new Wikiproject:Memory of women, which aims to document, make visible and preserve the stories of persecuted, retaliated or silenced women throughout history. Through the creation and improvement of articles on Wikipedia and its sister projects, We invite you to join this collective effort to rescue the contributions and experiences of these women in different contexts and times, promoting a fairer and more inclusive narrative that contributes to combat gender biases in spaces of free knowledge.
