Wikipedia vs. AI: free knowledge versus technofeudalism | T3chFest 2026

Talk by Patricia Horrillo at T3chFest 2026

This year Wikisphere was present at the T3chFest (@t3chfest) with a talk by our founder, Patricia Horrillo, about Wikipedia and its role as a free knowledge space in the face of the privatization of the internet and the advance of artificial intelligence.

The talk covered what makes Wikipedia unique: its 25-year history, its model without advertising or corporate ownership, and the thousands of people who edit it completely altruistically. Patricia claimed the derogatory phrase "anyone can write it" by turning it around: For the first time, we are the ones who document history from multiple voices..

There was also room to talk about the current risks:confusion between consulting Wikipedia and using an AI, Elon Musk's Grokipedia (which copies Wikipedia articles but with tweets as its own sources and editorial biases), and the use of Wikipedia content by tech companies without respecting Creative Commons licenses.

You can see the full talk at this link. And, if you want to join the community of people who edit Wikipedia in Spanish, write us: there is always room for one more editor.
