Editathons of the Landscape of Light #JUN2022

Since July 2021, Madrid is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, which lists sites of exceptional universal value. In this way, the Paseo del Prado and the Buen Retiro are in the category of Cultural Landscape and with the particularity of being in an extraordinary urban environment where culture, science and nature coexist since the mid-16th century. This Landscape of Light is the first good to hold such a distinction in the city of Madrid, and the fifth in the Community.
Wikisphere, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage of Madrid City Council, organized two editathons and two virtual meetings last June, to promote the care and improvement of heritage in its digital dimension in Wikipedia. These new calls are in addition to the previous editathons and training activities aimed at create a permanent working group on this subject and help to make visible fundamental elements of the Landscape of Light in Wikipedia.
In these days of the June 2022, participants from different institutions, some belonging to the Civic and Social Council of the Prado-Retiro candidacy, as well as citizens interested in the heritage of Madrid gathered in a room of the Madrid City Council to publish articles on Wikipedia from unique locations, buildings, institutions and trees, and also translate articles related to the Landscape of Light.
