Women and Witchcraft Campaign 2024
> Theme
This October, coinciding with the celebration of Halloween, from Wikiesfera we organize a campaign dedicated to making the memory of witches visible, taking advantage of this celebration of Celtic origin that takes place on the night of October 31. Halloween is associated with the ancient festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter, a period in which the world of the living and that of the spirits were believed to intermingle.
Our campaign had as its central purpose creating, translating and improving Wikipedia articles about women They have, throughout history, been labelled "witches" for challenging norms, knowledge or traditions of their time.
Participated in the campaign 22 people (90% women) who created 100 articles in 3 different languages (Spanish, Catalan and Galician). Together we made a little more visible the stories of women related to the history of witchcraft, folk wisdom and ancestral medicine.
In addition, to continue vindicating these figures, break stereotypes and give them the place they deserve in the space of shared knowledge that is Wikipedia, the Witches Wikiproject We invite you to participate.
