The libraries are for us spaces Naturals of encounter, learning and collaborative construction of knowledge, for bringing editing closer to Wikipedia citizens, library staff and especially women in neighbourhoods.

Our collaboration with libraries goes back to the year 2017 when next to the network of Municipal Public Libraries (BPM) of Madrid we promote a series of editatonas of women from the streets of Madrid at the BPM Ana María Matute de Carabanchel, Miguel Delibes de Moratalaz and José Hierro de Canillejas-San Blas. In addition, we carry out a Intensive Workshop oriented library staff to learn how to document on Wikipedia.

Subsequently, in 2022 and together with the State Public Library in Zaragoza (@bpezaragoza), we dedicate a face-to-face day to make visible on Wikipedia the profiles of Relevant Aragonese Librarians, with the participation of some archival and library professionals.

In May 2025, our colleague Encina Villanueva, the BPM San Fermín and three Equality Spaces of the City of Madrid, the Clara Campoamor located in the District of Villaverde, the Juana Doña of the District of Arganzuela and the Berta Cáceres of the District of Usera, made the First Steps Workshop on Wikipedia. In this meeting, this tool was made known and its use to neighbors of the neighborhood along with women users of Equality Spaces. In October of this same year the experience was repeated at the BPM San Fermín and the initiative was extended to the BPM José Saramago, located in the Barrio del Pilar.

To these workshops 29 women attended in total, some have maintained an editing group in the library from this activity, and others, have been incorporated into the usual programming of Wikisphere. As part of this initiative, women who had participated in these workshops were invited in November, to participate in a editatone to create articles about inventors, which took place at the BPM San Fermín.

From Wikiesfera we are committed to maintaining a close relationship with the library network, generating synergies that promote citizen participation in free knowledge through Wikipedia editing.
