Wikipedia is the most consulted encyclopedia in the world, but there are still large gaps: less than 25% of the biographies are about women and less than 13% of the people they edit are women. This lack of representation distorts our view of the world and perpetuates historical inequalities.
In Wikisphere, we work to change this reality. We are an organization feminist committed to the social justice and the elimination of biases in knowledge spaces.
>> How do we do it?
- Training and accompanying new editors to actively participate in Wikipedia.
- Promoting diversity and equity in the contents of the encyclopedia.
- Helping to create and improve articles about women, LGBT+ and other invisible social movements.
With your support, we can continue to accompany more women on their way to becoming Wikipedia editors, expanding and strengthening our feminist community. Each donation brings us closer to a more equitable digital space, where more women can write, document and share their story. Together, we narrowed the gender gap in knowledge and created a more diverse and representative Wikipedia.
Your contribution makes a difference. With your donation, we can organize more workshops, offer training and accompaniment to new editors, and consolidate a community that works for free, accessible and unbiased knowledge.
