Documenta Asturies

Documenta Asturies is a project that Wikiesfera develops together with LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation oriented to the identification, documentation and visibility of content about Asturias on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, working from the local and community knowledge of associations, groups and participants.

Through a participatory methodology We propose territorial work sessions, collective mapping processes, identification and prioritization of content, as well as subsequent accompaniment to facilitate the progressive incorporation of content to Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.

The project, which began in May 2026 and will end in December of this year, is funded by the Regional Ministry of Planning, Urban Planning, Housing, and Citizens' Rights, through the Directorate-General for Citizen Participation, Transparency, Sexual Diversity and LGTBI of the Principality of Asturias.

> Help us document Asturies

There are many ways to help document Asturias: From posting an article on Wikipedia or uploading your photos about your favorite corner of the region to Wikimedia Commons, to giving us tip-offs from local sources or files that can help us create new content.

Create, translate and improve articles about Asturias on Wikipedia

Encourage yourself to edit in Wikipedia in Asturian as in Wikipedia in Spanish and in the rest of Wikimedia projects, much information about the Asturian territory is missing. Little by little, with your help we will go documenting all of Asturias on Wikimedia projects.

Follow our agenda of activities to find out about the editing sessions which we will organize to help you Document Asturies.

Upload your photos of Asturias to Wikimedia Commons

Content Mapping

Through the face-to-face participatory sessions we are forming a first proposal of information about Asturias that should have an article in Wikipedia. In the following links you can know the preliminary results of the meetings held:

Another goal of the project is to increase the number of images about Asturian culture that are on Wikimedia Commons. For this we have opened the Documenta Asturies Campaign in Commons, where anyone can collaborate by uploading photos.
