Editatone of guardians of truth #11A
> Theme
Last Saturday, April 11, 2026, from Wikisphere and in coordination with Medialab Slaughterhouse (@medialabMM) in Madrid, dedicated a Day make visible on Wikipedia the trajectories of women linked to archives, documentation, conservation and memory as well as feminist documentation and archival spaces.
During the editatona the participants created and translated articles that were published Wikipedia in Spanish to make visible the fundamental role of women in the preservation, organization and transmission of collective memory. This is how we collectively contribute to a fairer and more diverse representation of knowledge.
Guardians of Truth was integrated into the Medialab - Slaughterhouse Program, which in the course of 2026 will develop the LAB5 Mechanics of Truth, focused on exploring how stories are built, validated and disseminated in the digital environment.

On this occasion, we have the participation of Leticia García Otero, archivist and responsible for Central Archive of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Government of Andalucia. His presentation allowed us to disassemble the stereotyped image of archives as closed and unrelevant spaces, showing that they are actually living systems of documents present in our daily lives and fundamental for management, research and culture.

He explained how these documents, since their creation in administrative processes, can become over time documentary heritage and key sources to understand history, as well as the active role of archivists in its organization, conservation, access and valuation, a process that involves technical but also ethical decisions about which memory is preserved. In addition, he stressed that Archives are an essential public service, linked to transparency, the exercise of rights and democratic control, and constituting the basis on which collective memory is built, connecting directly with the work of initiatives such as Wikisphere to make visible stories and trajectories that have been left out of the dominant stories.
