One editatone The editing marathon is an activity in which several people come together to create new content on Wikipedia, reduce the gender gap of the free encyclopedia and make visible the absence of content about women and their historical and cultural contributions. To this end, from Wikisphere, in coordination with Medialab Slaughterhouse (@medialabmatadero), we invite you to participate in a editatona dedicated to the sicalípticas, fundamental artists of the Spanish popular culture of the beginning of the 20th century.
The term sicalyptic was used to name interpreters linked to the cuplé and the culture of varietés who occupied stages, magazines and urban spaces throughout Spain. Cupletistas, choristers and tiples were central figures of the cultural life of the time and actively participated in the construction of modernity. Through cuplé and sicalipsis, languages based on insinuation and double meaning, influenced imaginaries about gender, sexuality and urban life., dialoguing with artistic and literary movements of his time. Despite their relevance, many of these women have been left out of historical accounts.
This editatone proposes recover and make visible the sicalyptics in Wikipedia, creating, translating and improving articles about these artists and their cultural context, incorporating women who were protagonists of their time and who today are still absent from free knowledge.

We carry out this activity in collaboration with the group Art+Feminism (@artandfem), an international community working to bridging information gaps on gender, feminism and the arts on the Internet, starting with Wikipedia.
