One editatone The editing marathon is an activity in which several people come together to create new content on Wikipedia, reduce the gender gap of the free encyclopedia and make visible the absence of content about women and their historical and cultural contributions. To this end, from Wikisphere, in coordination with Medialab Slaughterhouse (@medialabmatadero), we invite you to participate in a editatone dedicated to women linked to design.

Design is part of our daily lives: It is present in the objects we use, the spaces we inhabit, the images that surround us and the ways we communicate. However, the history of design has tended to make invisible or relegate the contributions of many women, despite its fundamental role in areas as diverse as graphic, interior, textile, industrial or furniture design.

With this edition we intend to incorporate names, works and contributions of women to this discipline in Wikipedia, through the translation and creation of articles. We also do it inspired by the recent exhibition Domestic Engineers and the Kitchen Revolution, held at the National Museum of Decorative Arts. The exhibition raised how different women, such as Catharine Beecher, Christine Frederick or Lillian Gilbreth, contributed, since the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, to transform the domestic space through the design, organization and incorporation of new technologies, putting at the center the needs of those who inhabited and used it. A demonstration of how the design concept itself changes when the women's gaze is incorporated.

On this occasion we will have Samper Villalba Remedies, researcher and cultural manager. Since 1997 he has been working in Espai Alfaro (Godella, Valencia), where he is responsible for the Alfaro Hofmann Collection.

His professional career is linked to research and dissemination of design in the everyday object, especially in the appliance, and its relationship with the social and cultural changes of the twentieth century, as well as the role of women in the transformation of domestic spaces and uses.

He has managed and curated numerous exhibitions presented in different Spanish cities. Among his most recent works is Domestic Engineers and the Kitchen Revolution at the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid in 2026.
