Editatona of Wikipedia in Tarancón (Cuenca) within the project "Free Knowledge Communities with a Feminist Approach"

From Wikisphere, in coordination with the Tarancón Municipal Public Library – Luis Rius, belonging to the Network of Public Libraries of Castilla-La Mancha and subsidized by the Ministry of Culture under the project “Creating free knowledge communities with a feminist approach”, we invite you to participate in the Editatona of La Mancha writers.

One editatone It is a collaborative activity to create and improve content on Wikipedia, reduce the gender gap and make visible the contributions of women in history, culture, science and society.

In the framework of the celebrations for the Library Day, which is held every year on 24 October, this edition will be dedicated to improve the representation on Wikipedia of women linked to the letters and written culture of Castilla-La Mancha. We will work on the creation and improvement of biographies of writers and librarians, as well as articles on literary works written by women, female characters of La Mancha literature, libraries and other content related to the bibliographic and cultural heritage of the region.

During the session we will learn the basics of editing on Wikipedia and we will work collaboratively to create, expand and translate articles, helping to make knowledge about these women and their legacy more accessible and visible.

This activity is part of the accompaniment we are doing to consolidating sustainable and autonomous territorial nodes; and contribute to the creation of new communities committed to free knowledge with a gender perspective.

He'll be with us too. Teresa Sans, retired librarian He worked for 17 years in the Municipal Public Library of Uclés (Cuenca), a small municipality of just 230 inhabitants.

Bachelor of Arts in Romance Philology At the University of Valencia, she also worked as a language teacher and was responsible for Training and Organization in a service, consulting and communications company.

From his experience, he will tell us about essential role of rural librarians in the cultural dynamization of their communities as well as to value the contribution of women to the lives of peoples.

This editatone is aimed at anyone interested in Making Women's Lives and Contributions Visible on Wikipedia. No prior knowledge required but yes you must bring your laptop.
