The chapter has been published “Building Wikipedia from a feminist perspective: the case of Wikisphere” inside the book Pixels and Patriarchy: Women in the Age of AI (Dykinson), you can download free of charge at this link. The work brings together contributions from specialists from different fields to analyze how digital technologies continue to reproduce structural inequalities that affect women, providing a critical and multidisciplinary look at the role of AI and digital environments.

This chapter is based on the presentation that María Sefidari and Patricia Horrillo presented in July 2025 at the V International Congress of Digital Feminism of the University of Granada, where we share the experience of Wikisphere as a community working to reduce the gender gap in Wikipedia. The proposal (which we share with you in this Post where you also have the video) aroused great interest among the academic community, being among the most commented of the meeting.
With this publication, we go a step further in documenting and disseminating our work, contributing to the debate on how to build fairer and more inclusive free knowledge spaces.
