Introduction workshop to Wikipedia #21O

We propose you to participate in a workshop to take your first steps in Wikipedia.

Editing on Wikipedia is simple, much more than it seems and your participation can make a difference to increase the presence of women in the most consulted online encyclopedia in the world. In the framework of the programming of the Municipal Public Libraries of Madrid, from the community of editors of Wikisphere we invite you to participate in this practical workshop, where learn how to take your first steps on Wikipedia.

This activity is designed to offer a accessible and safe space where you will discover:

  • What is Wikipedia (we use it a lot, but we know little about how it is built).
  • How to create your account and move around the platform.
  • How to make your first edits and contributions.

Do you dare to transform the knowledge we share on the Internet?

On this occasion, we will have Encina Villanueva Lorenzana. Belongs to Wikisphere since 2016. He is particularly interested in the fair and quality representation of artists on Wikipedia and disseminate this tool to increase the number of people involved in improving their content from a gender perspective. To this end it imparts talks, co-organises editatones and workshops and promotes new groups editing.

This activity is aimed at anyone interested in learn how to edit on Wikipedia. So, If you want to take your first steps as a Wikipedian, this is your chance

  • ✅ You like it search for information on the Internet
  • ✅ You know how to handle a word processor
  • Type with keyboard with ease

IMPORTANT: It is not necessary to have prior knowledge, only you need to bring your laptop
