On September 26, Wikisphere participated in the X Meeting Culture and Citizenship, organised by the Ministry of Culture at the Galician Centre for Contemporary Art (CGAC) in Santiago de Compostela. Our partner Patricia Horrillo intervened at the table Diverse and Involved Digital Culture, together with representatives of Canòdrom (Barcelona), The girls also play (Canary Islands) and eBiblio (Ministry of Culture), with the moderation of Zemos98.
In her speech, Patricia stressed the role of Wikipedia as a space of cultural resistance, in the face of the advance of a capitalist model that conceives culture as a consumer product. He also highlighted the Explosion of participation in Wikipedia in the last ten years and the challenge posed by the disinformation in the digital age.
From Wikiesfera we continue to defend the importance of a free, accessible and collective culture, and we celebrate these meeting spaces that allow us to weave alliances with other initiatives that work for a more diverse and participated culture.
