From October 19 to 22, the event was held in New Delhi (India) WikiWomen Camp 2023 which brought together Wikimedians from various leading countries in their respective communities and committed to fighting the gender gap in the Wikimedia movement.
It was the third time this event was held, after the first two that took place in Argentina (2012) and Mexico (2017). The motto of the 2023 edition was "Map Up, Rise Up", which we could translate as "Map (or cartography) and get up".
The programme consisted of two strands of work: one focused on the Movement Strategy and the other in the training of organisers present and future of the movement. In the latter, our Wikisphere partner Isa Zapico was invited along with Tochi Precious and Imelda Brazal to share their experience in organizing campaigns. You can find more information about this and other sessions here as well as the slides of the presentation on Recruitment and retention of participants in gender events, which was carried out by Isa.
Also, if you want to learn more about the gender gap in the Wikimedia movement, you can read some of the academic publications collected on the Wikiwomen Camp website (in English).
