{"id":33,"date":"2016-03-04T18:18:57","date_gmt":"2016-03-04T16:18:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wikimujeres.wiki\/?p=33"},"modified":"2025-03-21T15:23:25","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T15:23:25","slug":"brecha-de-genero-en-la-wikipedia-una-manera-facil-de-comprobarlo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wikiesfera.org\/en\/2016\/03\/04\/brecha-de-genero-en-la-wikipedia-una-manera-facil-de-comprobarlo\/","title":{"rendered":"Gender gap in Wikipedia: an easy way to check it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wigi.wmflabs.org\/gender-by-language.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>WIGI<\/strong> (<strong>Wi<\/strong>Kipedia&nbsp;<strong>G<\/strong>ender <strong>I<\/strong>nequality Index)<\/a> is a project based on a set of <strong>open data obtained from Wikidata<\/strong> on sex, date of birth, place of birth, ethnicity, occupation and language of articles on biographies in all <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikipedia.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wikipedias<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/wigi.wmflabs.org\/gender-by-language.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WIGI Interactive Graphic<\/a>&nbsp;shows the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikipedia.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wikipedia<\/a> in forty languages and informs us of the <strong>number of biographies that have been edited during the last week<\/strong> separating the biographies of men from those of women, in addition to reporting the percentage that they represent as a whole. For example in the <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:Portada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spanish Wikipedia<\/a>, <strong>Between February 15 and 22, 2016, 915 biographies of men and 189 of women have been created, representing a percentage of 20.66%<\/strong>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:Hauptseite\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">German Wikipedia<\/a> is in which more biographies have been published, 2,418 biographies of men and 292 of women with a percentage of 12.08 %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another curious fact is found in the Nepali Wikipedia where the percentage of biographies of women is 96.47%In other words, they have published 82 biographies of women and 85 of men. On the other side of the scale, there's the Hindi Wikipedia with only 1.3. % of biographies of women, that is, they have edited 77 biographies of men and only 1 of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">English Wikipedia<\/a> is the one that contains more biographies 13,380.020 of which 214,272 are women, corresponding to the percentage of 16.01 %, being the Korean Wikipedia the one that obtains the most relevant percentage with a 23% biographies of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well now you just have to hover your mouse over the circle of the language to see the details, the information is updated weekly so it is a good link not to forget and to remember that in the issue of the gender gap we need Wikipedians with four hands ...
