Since July 2021, Madrid is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List<\/strong>, which lists sites of exceptional universal value. In this way, the Paseo del Prado and the Buen Retiro<\/strong> are in the category of Cultural Landscape and with the particularity of being in an extraordinary urban environment where culture, science and nature coexist since the mid-16th century. This Landscape of Light<\/a> is the first good to hold such a distinction in the city of Madrid, and the fifth in the Community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wikisphere, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage of Madrid City Council<\/strong>, organized<\/a> two editathons and a virtual meeting last October, to promote the care and improvement of heritage in its digital dimension in Wikipedia. These new calls are in addition to the previous editathons<\/a> and training activities aimed at create a permanent working group on this subject and help to make visible fundamental elements of the Landscape of Light in Wikipedia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In these days of the October 2022<\/strong>, participants from different institutions, some belonging to the Civic and Social Council of the Prado-Retiro candidacy, as well as citizens interested in the heritage of Madrid gathered at the Eugenio Tr\u00edas Municipal Public Library<\/strong> <\/b>to publish on Wikipedia articles of locations, monuments and people related to heritage and the Landscape of Light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
