The past Saturday 25 April<\/strong>, Gij\u00f3n<\/strong> once again became a meeting point for free knowledge with a gender perspective with the Editatona organized by Wikisphere<\/strong>, in coordination with the LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation<\/a><\/strong> and subsidized by the Ministry of Culture <\/strong>under the project \u201cCreating free knowledge communities with a feminist approach\u201d<\/a><\/strong>, co-financed by the Wikimedia Foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day, focused on the creation and translation of articles about Asturian artists<\/strong>, was held in the Archive of Asturian Artists LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation<\/strong> This allowed participants to work with materials and documentation that are often not available online, facilitating the creation of more comprehensive and better referenced articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity was the first editatona of Wikiesfera in Gij\u00f3n and is part of the impulse to the local editing communities.<\/strong> Its objective was to give continuity to the work initiated in the Asturian territory, reinforcing the local node of publishers WikiAsturianes<\/strong>, which took its first steps in February 2025, and favouring the creation of an active network committed to free knowledge with a gender perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, with this project we connect the different nodes<\/strong> through the exchange of participants in the different activities<\/strong>, strengthening the network and shared learning. On this occasion we were accompanied by several companions of the Madrid nodes (Wikisphere)<\/strong>, like Patricia Horrillo and Sylvia Hottinger, and Vigo (WikiMorada), <\/strong>Sabela Cebro, <\/strong>who were able to devirtualize and share knowledge with the editors of the Node of Asturias (Wikiasturianes)<\/strong>. This diversity made the participants work in 3 languages, publishing their articles in 3 encyclopedias: Spanish Wikipedia, Asturian Wikipedia and Galician Wikipedia<\/strong>. In addition, tokens were created and completed in Wikidata<\/strong> and several images related to the theme were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity, apart from its dissemination by the institution in which it was developed, LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation, and that carried out by the social networks of Wikiesfera and WikiAsturiantes, had impact on various regional media<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
