Last Thursday, February 19, 2026 we were in the Women's Institute<\/strong> (@instmujeres<\/a>) <\/strong>bringing the workings and potential of Wikipedia closer to a group of young people from 1\u00ba Baccalaureate, with the Wikipedia Workshop and Critical Thinking<\/strong><\/em>, taught by our colleagues Encina Villanueva<\/strong> y Liliana Alvi\u00e1rez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We pose the session as a accessible and practical space <\/strong>that would make it possible to understand not only how Wikipedia is edited<\/strong>, but also what it means to participate in the construction of free knowledge<\/strong>. We focused on the impact editing has on women's visibility and how active participation can contribute to reducing existing gaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attended 35 participants<\/strong>, 31 of which were students, who through group work dynamics and a series of open questions, reflected on the relationship between participation and representation of knowledge<\/strong>: who writes?, about whom is it written?, what happens when certain voices are not present? We also address the gender gap in Wikipedia<\/strong> and we analyze data that shows the need to continue promoting spaces for training and editing with a feminist perspective<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another of the axes of the session was the link between open sources and artificial intelligence<\/strong>. Many questions arose and we found that they still exist. well-established myths about how information is generated in digital environments<\/strong>. It became clear that this is a topic that is worth further deepening, especially with the younger generations.omentar a critical and responsible look at the use and production of content<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The experience confirmed, once again, that bringing the tools of free knowledge closer to youth<\/strong> not only arouses curiosity, but opens up real possibilities for participation and transformation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
